![]() ![]() Armories and armed cannons are most important to take when invading via carriers. If you guessed the center tile, you were right. You are planning an air strike on the cartel and plan to drop a harvester where you land. This is a very common tactic when dealing with islands, because most troops stationed there will not be able to escape being destroyed by the harvester. You can also use harvesters as tools to destroy your opponent's land. This particular cartel player is very good at placing harvesters, as shown here. Make sure your harvesters are safe, profitable, and that you still have plenty of land left over. Harvesters always destroy the tile they are placed on and potentially others around them. However, they have kept land bridges intact to the rest of the Northern part of the map, while their enemies have destroyed their only land-based way to reach the rest of the map through harvesters.įortunately for the Freemen, they were able to claim the Northen part of the map quite easily due to having access to the land bridges, and used harvesters to destroy the main part of their territory to prevent further invasion by the Empire and Pirates.īuild your own harvesters on areas that you will not use. ![]() Here we can see a more defensive employment of this tactic by the Freemen, who aren't doing particularly well economically, and they have powerful enemies surrounding them, eager to invade. In the end, we can see that the Cartel player was successful in overpowering the Pirates, and now has more developed land than they started with, providing a better defense in the late game where carrier attacks become common. If you are hoping to engage in a land war in one of your own games, remember to keep land bridges intact for as long as possible, as they allow cheaper walker movement and the opportunity to invade. In this example, the Cartel harvested enough of its own land to economically overpower its opponents and snag the high ground through a land bridge. This only works if a player is efficient with harvester placement and does not waste funds, because any player attempting to execute this will need all the funds they can acquire to overpower other factions' land. Basically, what the tactic entails is attempting to expand the amount of defendable land you own by aggressively producing walkers and invading enemy or neutral terrirtory. The computer AI almost never tries to execute this. The Land War tactic is an early-mid game tactic often employed by defensive, land preserving players. The next sections will detail actual tactics.
